Lime is one of a pair of sisters we purchased together, daughters of promising new stud on the block, Broadstrand Bono. They came to us partially schooled and Richie Taberner has their care to complete their schooling and get them racing at Monmore Green,
Lime has had a particular problem turning in the traps shortly before the trial is due to start. She doesn’t do this at home so it is particularly frustrating as she certainly has speed once she gets going!
She did exactly the same in her first race as studiers of the form will have seen. She did remarkably well to grade on having come out backwards! On her second attempt however she did come out nose first and truly showed what she could do, leading by halfway and winning easily. That victory earned her a double upgrade but Lime took that in her stride forcing her way through from fourth dog to lead by the final bend and finish strongly. What a difference it makes trapping correctly and there would surely be more to come.
Indeed, after five runs she had a 100% record, winning every race where she came out of the traps head first and was up to A6! That trend continued and she soon took her record to a remarkable eight wins from eighteen races, stopping the clock in an impressive 28.69. Those who thought her sister to be better were being proved wrong!
